What We Believe
Jesus Is Our Savior
We believe Jesus is the Christ, Son of the living God, and there is no other name given under heaven whereby we must be saved. (Matt 16:16, Acts 4:12 ).
The Bible is the Word of God
We believe the scriptures are the inspired word of God and provides us with everything we need to properly serve Him (II Tim 3:16-17, II Peter 1:3). It teaches and instructs us concerning His will. As His church, we humbly and carefully follow the teachings and pattern that He has given for every activity, work, or teaching in which we engage.
The Plan of Salvation
Hear
We believe and practice the plan of salvation revealed by Christ in the New Testament. One who is accountable must first hear the pure gospel (Heb 3:15, Rom 10:17). Hearing the word of God also includes understanding what you have been taught.
Believe
Once a person has heard the truth, he/she must then believe it (Rom 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”). The gospel is based on Jesus, therefore a person must believe Jesus is the Christ, Son of the living God (John 3:16, Acts 8:37).
Repentance and Confession
A person then must repent of their sin (Luke 13:3, 5 ; Acts 2:38). Repentance is a change of heart that changes our lifestyle. (II Cor. 7:10). We turn away from sin and turn back to God. One must confess Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. “For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” – (Rom 10:10).
Baptism
Then a person must be baptized in water to be saved by Christ (Mark 16:16). Baptism is a burial in water, for the remission of sins, which puts a person into Christ (Rom 6:3-4, Acts 2:38, Gal 3:27). We follow Christ’s command and example in baptism. It isn’t the “water” that saves us, but our faith in His grace. The Bible is clear that there is no faith without obedience.
Faith
The result of faith is a person living the rest of their life in faithful service to Jesus. A life where one sacrifices his/her will for His will (Rom 12:1). Where we love Him and keep His commands. (I John 5:3). Day by day we must grow spiritually. (II Peter 3:18, Rev 2:10).
The Church
We believe Jesus established His church. It is a Divine institution, not man made. (Acts 2) The purpose of the Church is to reach the lost (Matt. 28:19) to encourage one-another (Eph. 4:11-16) and to bring honor and glory to Christ. Worshiping as a Church family brings Him that honor and there-by our own hearts are encouraged.
We are Nondenominational
Believing Christ is the only head of His Church we, have no governing authority outside of Him. Locally, we select Elders and Deacons who are faithfully following Christ, and they make decisions regarding the local body. They are selected and elected by the congregation. Major decisions are brought before the congregation. We have no denominational ties, yet we do cooperate with other Church families in supporting Missionaries, and Ministries.
Our Worship follows the pattern of Worship in the New Testament Church:
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” Acts 2:42
The Lord’s Supper is an important part of our Worship
We believe that the Lord’s Table is open to all believers regardless of denominational ties. Since it is His Table, no man has the right to determine who may partake, and who may not. “Let each man examine himself, and then partake of that loaf” (I Cor. 11)
Following the pattern of the Church in the New Testament, we partake of the Lord supper every Sunday in remembrance of the crucified Lord (I Cor. 11:23-29). “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread” (Acts 20:7).
This is a brief outline of what we in the Christian Church believe. There are many more details concerning our devotion and service to Christ. We invite any questions or comments you may have concerning the things we believe and practice.
